WASHINGTON (AP) -- Side 2 (L4) Bunch 8 (Island Iffish) Space Habitat strikes Sydney, severe losses..

This morning, rebel militants suspected to be from from the Z.L.G. attached engines to one of the now-depopulated Federation space stations in Orbital Point 5. Before UN action could be taken, the 20-mile-long cylinder was sent on collsion with United Nations headquarters in New York City. The UN counter-terrorist forces intercepted the falling colony, diverting its path away from Manhattan.

Colony fragments up to 5 feet in length have been reported across South America, while the largest chunk struck Sydney, Australia, at 7:00 EST. The impact is measured equivalent to a 60,000 megaton blast. Tremors were felt as far as Japan and Sri Lanka.

200 million people in the Sydney Australia area are feared dead, communications with Australia were disabled in the impact, but no casualties were reported outside of the Australian continent. Rescue teams have been advised not to enter the Sydney area for the next 72 hours as a safety precaution.

This is the first "colony bombing" attack since the establishment of the UN's Universal Century Act, which established free habitats on board neutral space stations.

CNN will update as news comes out of the Sydney area.
